In the mid-90s, Seismic produced a 66mm cruising wheel for assembly with Seismic trucks on “Richter 7.1” completes, featuring slalom decks hand-built on special commission by the legendary Bob Turner. Like the rollout of Seismic trucks in 1994, this plan was years ahead of its time!
Seismic began pouring high-performance wheels on a larger scale in 2004, when we took over the 3dm line. The original Cambria, Avalon and Avila shapes utterly dominated international slalom racing for years. They’re still used by elite racers, cruisers and carvers around the world. Since 2005 we’ve developed even more advanced wheels under our flagship Seismic brand, including shapes that powered the 2006 World Slalom Champion and the 2007 IGSA World #1-ranked downhill racer.
Pure grip at its finest, with superior wear characteristics. The wheel of choice for the world’s most discerning racers – including the 2006 World Slalom Champion and the 2007 IGSA World #1-ranked downhill racer – along with countless longboarders, cruisers, and classic rippers!
All Seismic wheels 77A and above are now poured in a revolutionary new urethane compound, code named “Black Ops”. The best, bar none. It offers more grip and rebound together, with less rolling resistance, than any other formula ever! Industry-leading core technology makes our big wheels surprisingly lightweight, with supercharged inside edge rebound.
For highest performance, use a softer duro at the tail (where thrust is generated and grip is most critical) and a harder duro at the nose (to optimize roll speed).
Short no-holds-barred interview of Seismic founder/owner at:
The 73mm Speed Vent is molded around our proprietary weight-saving Energy Conversion Core – possibly the raciest, sexiest core on the market. The 73mm diameter gives it the roll speed of a larger wheel, while the weight-saving core adds the quickness and agility of a smaller wheel, as well as enhanced rebound. Combined with lips designed for pure grip, the 73mm Speed Vent is utterly unique among high-end wheels. Breakthrough performance for longboarding, downhill, GS, and Hybrid slalom.

Unlike previous wheels in the Seismic line, the Blast Wave has a slightly radiused outer lip for high grip with controlled sliding. It's molded around the full version of our proprietary Energy Conversion core, making it astoundingly light for a wheel of this size – so much so that top racers use it for disciplines ranging from Tight Slalom all the way to technical Downhill. Truly a “blast” to ride, and destined to rewrite the book on the versatility of tall wheels.
The very fastest wheel in the world - used by Joel King of England to set a Guinness World Record of 114.7 mph on a jet-powered luge! The 85mm Speed Vent is molded around our proprietary weight-saving Energy Conversion Core – possibly the raciest, sexiest core on the market. The 85mm diameter gives it the roll speed of a downhill wheel, while the weight-saving core adds the quickness and agility of a smaller wheel, as well as enhanced rebound. The new 76mm x 59mm Hot Spot is quite possibly the fastest all-around wheel ever developed for Downhill and GS racing. It’s molded in Black Ops™ urethane around the new Seismic Mini-EC core. Not too big and not too small, the core preserves ample tire thickness while saving over ½-ounce per wheel and super-charging inside edge rebound. The result is a big, wide wheel with superior traction and roll; smooth, predictable handling; and the quickness of a much smaller wheel. Said multi-time World Slalom Champion Gary Fluitt, “I threw them on for my final run in the 2010 Texas Sizzler GS, and without any testing I dropped my time by over a half second. That’s an eternity in slalom racing, and it was more than enough to give me the win.”
Hardness/Color
We developed this shape to roll through turns faster without compromising grip. Taller and thinner than the Avalon, the Hot Spot features a slightly squared lip that bevels inward at a small angle. It's a perfect complement to your race box and an outstanding choice for all-purpose longboarding, cruising and Old School styling.
